Client: Hug in a Bag (www.huginabag.com)
Project: Logo and identity design

Our director has been a supporter of the Hug in a Bag cancer charity from when it started in October 2006 in Sunderland. Its aim is to give a 'hug' in the form of a pamper bag containing gifts and information to every person diagnosed with breast cancer in hospitals in Sunderland and Blackpool.

The design challenge was to create a universally warm and friendly identity based on the charity's mascot, a bear named 'Hugo', that could operate in conjunction with the original Hug in a Bag identity. The design strategy was to incorporate bold, funny and eye-catching elements but in a thoughtful and controlled manner (however nobody mentioned cute - that was a happy accident!). It was essential that the design have a dynamic and colourful look that would appeal to all ages and combine a feel-good factor with the encouragement of donor involvement. Designed as part of a complete brand identity, response to each application has been overwhelmingly positive and we continue to remain a valued partner in the organisation's many campaign objectives.

A leaflet was chosen as the best medium for this as its intended marketplace can be very traditional. A simple design was required in order to make the text be as legible, evolve the brand identity and to help give a reassurance of quality to the potential clients.

As part of a complete brand identity, a branded certificate design was required that would be suitable for different quantities of variable data dependent on which course it applied to. Project: Logo and identity

Crystal and Glass Gifts pride themselves on offering the highest quality personalised crystal and glass products at competitive prices. With gifts produced by the most up-to-date methods of manufacture and personalisation, shoppers are able to create the perfect gift by adding their own text or by selecting from an artwork library. Products are then personalised by various methods depending on the artwork and the type of product selected, ranging from handmade decanters, sculptures, optical crystal gifts, whisky dispensers, stemware, tankards and tumblers.

The challenge was to create a design that gave a general feel of what they do without being too specific which would set itself apart from the competition. In order to achieve this, we focused on creating a contemporary look that made use of a subtle 3D glass effect and a soft warm grey palette. The result is an identity that feels engaging, inviting and professional.
